Help Haiti and Get a Request on WRHS
Jack FM's slogan is "Playing What We Want." So, for the past six years, if you tried to request a song on 89.7 FM WRHS Norridge... we'd say nope, nada, sorry, it ain't gonna happen. But right now things are different. Haiti was hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake January 12th, and officials have said there could be anywhere between 50,000 to 500,000 deaths. As one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti needs worldwide assistance. Here's how you can help. Make a donation to support disaster relief efforts through the American Red Cross, the United Way or through the Clinton Foundation. Go to ridgenet.org and click on "Help Haiti and Get a Request on WRHS." As a special thank you, for each $5 donation, 89.7 FM WRHS Norridge will play a request and dedication of your choice. Certain rules apply, but for first time in over six years, 89.7 FM WRHS Norridge will be taking your song requests.

Go to www.redcross.org and click on "donate now," or you can text "Haiti" to 90999 to send a $10 donation to the Red Cross. The efforts of the Red Cross are backed by the U.S. State Department. As of 6 AM January 15th, $6 million has been raised... that's the most money raised from a wireless device ever.

You can donate to the United Way Worldwide Disaster Fund by going to www.unitedway.org/worldwide. The AFT is on the United Way's board of trustees.

There are also other links for donation through: http://www.clintonfoundation.org/haitiearthquake/.

Make your donation. Then e-mail wrhs@ridgenet.org or call (708) 697-5519 with the name of the charity, the amount you pledged, and the song you'd like us to play. If we don't have your tune, we'll ask you for a copy of it as an MP3, CD, cassette tape, 45RPM or 33 RPM record. Songs must meet FCC and community standards. Messages and songs may be edited for content or length, and WRHS reserves the right to refuse to play a song. This is not payola. Certain restrictions apply. See ridgenet.org for more details.
