| Words of the Week: Technology Education |
- Schematic
- n. – a diagram, as of the wiring of an electric of an electric circuit.
It wasn’t until I began to follow the schematic that I realized that the light switch in the garage was actually the power switch to the outlet outside the front door.
- Fabricate
- v. – to make, build, construct, by assembling parts; manufacture
I began to fabricate the cabinets following the schematic.
- Calibrate
- v. – to fix, check, or correct the scale of (a measuring instrument, as a thermometer)
I had to calibrate my new thermometer so it would measure my temperature accurately.
- Oscillate
- v – to swing back and forth, as a pendulum
After I calibrated the cuckoo clock I fabricated using the schematic, the pendulum under the clock began to oscillate with a thunderous “tick-tock”.
- Torque
- N – any force that causes rotation.
My dad explained to be that the more torque an engine has, the faster its wheels will turn.
