Summer School
Ridgewood operates summer school for Driver Education, Reading, Math and for other subjects as needed. Students who wish information about summer school should contact the Guidance Office. Attendance, behavior, and discipline policies included in this handbook will be disseminated by summer school teachers.

Classroom Dates

Classroom begins: Monday, June 7th
Classroom ends: Wednesday, July 14th
No Class on: Friday, July 2nd

**Please note behind-the-wheel students may have to meet beyond the classroom end date due to increased graduated licensing requirements.

Registration Dates

Friday, April 9th: 3:10 PM in the student cafeteria (Room 123)
Monday, April 12th: 3:10 PM in the student cafeteria (Room 123)

*** You must be 15 years of age at the time of registrationand you must attend both days.
During registration, information concerning the course, schedule, registration, fees, permit application and permit test will be covered.

Makeup and Parochial Student Registration

Friday, April 30th 3:10 PM in the Cafeteria (Room 123)
*** You must be 15 years of age at the time of registration and you must attend both days to register.
Monday, May 3rd 3:10 PM in the Cafeteria(Room 123)

If you are unable to register on the 2 days in early April due to illness, sports, activities, etc…, a late registration will take place on Friday, April 30th and Monday, May 3rd after school in the cafeteria. During these two days, parochial students (any student who resides in the Norridge and Harwood Heights area that pay taxes to Ridgewood High School district) will also be allowed to register for the class. Students not currently attending Ridgewood will be asked to bring proof of residency to the registration.

After all students are registered, you will receive a schedule in the mail. The course will consist of 2 phases: classroom and behind-the-wheel.

This information is given to you now so that parents are able to make summer plans. You will not be allowed to miss days due to summer vacation, etc… Instruction for this class is covered over a 6-week period, and missing any days in this accelerated program would be nearly impossible to make up.

Cost of Course $300.00
Cost of the Permit $20.00

Students may be eligible for a waiver of the driver education course fee based on federal family income guidelines. Information and applications are available in the business office.
