School Improvement

The Ridgewood High School School Improvement Plan (SIP) Team meets once every month during the school year to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive plan for school improvement.  This development of this plan includes review of summative test data, outlining of school wide goals, professional development of teachers and staff, and developing a positive relationship with the community.  The team is lead by the school's instructional leader who is repsonsible for making final decisions regarding school improvement, professional development, and distribution of funds and/or materials related to school improvement.  Two co-chairs are responsible for organizing and managing each meeting.  Each sub-committee of the team elects a representative to communicate the committee's goals, meeting agendas, concerns and requests at the SIP Team meetings.  In turn, the issues, concerns, or requests raised during a SIP Team meeting are reviewed and thoroughly discussed by the entire team.

Responsibilities of the SIP Team:

  • Developing a school wide improvement action plan based on current data and best practices.
  • Aligning goals and objectives to the mission and vision of the school.
  • Providing staff and community with quality information to meet the needs of all students.
  • Effectively communicating information regarding current situations, best practice research, suggested ideas and action plans to staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Providing high quality professional development opportunities that are meaningful, purposeful, engaging and practice.
  • Helping to facilitate a positive, safe and welcoming learning environment for teachers, staff, students and parents.
