Dear Parents: We are pleased to inform you that Ridgewood High School has partnered with Follett Virtual Bookstores (FVB), the nation’s leading supplier of K-12 pre-owned textbooks, to provide our online bookstore and fulfill your student’s book needs for the upcoming school year.
The online bookstore will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing you to place an order anytime, day or night.
To use the bookstore, you will need your student’s class schedule for next year, when you pay your child's registration fees for next year. The online bookstore website will direct you step-by-step through placing an order. You will have the option of purchasing new or used books, if available. A few books are available to rent. Checkout is secure, using state-of-the-art encryption technology for your personal credit card information. If you wish to order via telephone, you may do so by calling FVB toll-free at 1-877-827-2665 during normal business hours. FVB guarantees 100% customer satisfaction. At the end of the year there will be a buy-back program to provide you an opportunity to sell your used textbooks back to FES. Information about the buy-back program will be distributed next spring. The administration and staff of Ridgewood High School are looking forward to the first day of school. The school year begins on Friday, August 13, 2010.

General Information
TEXTBOOKS: Students are required to purchase most of their own textbooks, workbooks, and paperback books from an outside supplier. A link to the online bookstore is on www.ridgenet.org. Books may be purchased from any source but must be the same as the listed books. Some books will be provided by the school, and students are responsible for their care and return.
FEE PAYMENT RECEIPTS: A packet of information, the student's schedule, and payment receipt will be mailed in July to those who sent in their completed form and payment.
IDENTIFICATION CARDS / YEARBOOK PICTURES: ID cards for new/transfer students will be taken at Freshman Orientation and during the first several days of school. Freshmen yearbook photographs will be taken during Freshmen Orientation. Sophomore and Junior yearbook photographs will be taken early in the school year. Senior yearbook photographs will be taken during the summer before the school year begins and will be taken by appointment only. Seniors will be contacted by the official photographer, (last year it was) Spelman Studios.
HALL LOCKERS: Students will be assigned both a hall locker and a gym locker. The hall locker number will appear on the student’s schedule. Hall lockers will be available to the students beginning August 10, 2010. PE lockers will be assigned during class. New students will be required to purchase 2 locks from the school for their lockers at a cost of $14.00. All lockers containing student possessions must be locked using only a lock sold by Ridgewood.
GYM UNIFORMS AND LOCKS: A student club sells gem clothes and locks. Pre-ordered gym clothes and locks will be dixtributed during Freshman Orientation and before and after school during the first week of school. Beginning August 24, 2010, gym clothes and locks can be purchased by completing an order form and returning it with full payment to the Student Services Office, Guidance Room 137. Sized cannot be guaranteed for orders placed after June 1.
TRANSPORTATION: Students who wish to use public transportation at a reduced fare may obtain a CTA Student Riding Permit. The cost is $5.00. Applications are available by calling (312) 932-2923. Parents who transport their student more than 1 1/2 miles to school may apply for transportation reimbursement through the Illinois State Boeard of Education. Applications are available in the Business Office of the schoool.
FREE/REDUCED MEAL / FEE WAIVER: Information describing the Fee Waiver and the Free/Reduced Meal Program is available at the school. You may pick up this information and applications at the Business Office of the school.
INSURANCE INFORMATION: Student Accident Coverage is provided for students enrolled in District 234 at no cost to the family. This coverage is secondary to your primary family coverage. Students are covered while attending classes or participating in school sponsored activities and sport programs, including football. 24-hour insurance is available as an optional purchase.
SCHEDULE CHANGES: For the 2011 - 2012 school year there is a $50.00 charge to change a student schedule. Schedule changes will only be made if an appropriate, alternate placement is avaiable. Students will need to see a counselor for any changes in their schedule.
Freshman Orientation: Monday, August 9, 2010 at 8:30 AM (STUDENTS ONLY)
School Begins: Friday, August 13, 2010 at 8:00 AM with a full day of classes.

FBLA Physical Education Uniform and Lock Order Form
All new students must order gym uniform(s) and locks through the School Store. Ordering Facts:
- All students must wear a gym uniform to gym class. The uniform consists of shirt and shorts (sweatshirts and sweatpants are optional).
- For safety reasons, all new students must order two (2) locks from the school store: one for your hall locker and one for your gym locker.
- Payment for your order must be sent to: Ridgewood High chool; 7500 West Montrose Avenue, Norridge, Illinois 60706-1196. We must receive payment at Ridgewood High School by May 29, 2010 or you are not guaranteed to receive locks or a unifrom in your size.
- We accept personal checks or money orders payable to Ridgewood High School. Payment can also be made with a Visa or Mastercard. You may include this amount on line F of your student's Registration Form. **
- Don’t just send the money! Make sure you include your payment with your order preferably with the school registration payment so your son and / or daughter can pick it up during Freshmen Orientation.
