2011 ABE Books
Last Saturday, Ridgewood’s very own Orest Sosnivka traveled to Normal, Illinois, to take part in the ABE Reading Panel. Orest was 1 of 10 high school students chosen throughout the state and he was instrumental in deciding which nominated books would make it to the final list of 22 books for the 2011 ABE Award Program. Congratulations Orest on being selected to the reading panel and great job in selecting next year’s books. The 2011 ABE books will be revealed in April at the ABE Celebration party.

Blood Drive
The spring blood drive will take place on Tuesday, March 16th. If you are at least 16 years old and wish to donate, sign up during all lunches this week. If you are 16, you are required by law to have a parent's consent in order to donate. Drop off all parent permission forms to Mr. Parrillo in Room 149. Blood drive next Tuesday - sign up TODAY at lunch.

LitWorks: A Teen READ Workshop this Saturday
This Saturday, March 13th Ridgewood High School and Eisenhower Public Library present LitWorks: A Teen READ Workshop. A FREE event for Teens to meet eight outstanding authors, to celebrate teen reading, and to have fun! The day begins at 10:00 AM at Eisenhower Public Library. Meeting Tuesday and Recording Wednesday
The Multimedia Broadcast Club will have short meeting Tuesday at 3:15 PM to discuss radio and TV projects. Then, we will meet at 1:45 PM on Wednesday, March 10th to record the Jazz Band on an episode of The Music Edge. Both are in the TV Studio, Room 154.

Attention Seniors attending Triton College in the fall!
Triton Admissions Counselors will be here on Monday, April 12 to administer the placement exam and conduct orientation. If you plan on attending Triton College in the fall of 2010, you must apply now! You cannot take the placement exam unless you have applied!

DECA State Champion!
DECA experienced a successful State Competition this weekend.

JENNA LIACONE is state champion in the Principles of Hospitality and Tourism event, placing 1st overall, 2nd place in the human relations role play and 3rd place in the communications role play.

SCOTT PARENT achieved 1st place in the Sports and Entertainment role play.

NADEER SAADEH placed 3rd in the economics test.

ALEK MILOSEVIC achieved competency in this event.

NICOLE KMIOTEK placed 3rd on her economics test and SYLVIA JASNIUK place 3rd on her competency test for their Business Law and Ethics event.

KATHY RUDA, BECKA COVELIERS, KARLI BLAUS, ANGELICA PURPURA all achieved competency in their events.

Ridgewood DECA was acknowledged as a “Super Star Chapter”, recognized for its Statewide Civic Consciousness Project, I-Connect accomplishments and reached Gold level for the Membership Campaign.

JENNA LIACONE qualified to compete in the International Competition at Louisville, Kentucky, April 24-27.
